3 Delicious Bread & Butter Pudding Traditional Recipes
This traditional dessert is very popular in British cuisine and is still being enjoyed up to now with a few variations nowadays. I have gathered at least 3 bread and butter pudding recipes that I will share below.

BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING I
7 Slices of Bread
1.5 pints Milk
3 beaten eggs
110g Sugar
110g Raisins and Sultanas
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Salt
Butter
Pre-heat oven to 170C: 325F: Gas 3.
Get a large oven proof baking dish and rub the butter around it. Butter each of the slices of bread on one side only. Line bottom and sides of the dish with the buttered bread, cover as much of the bowl as possible but try to leave 2 or 3 slices of bread to one side.
Mix milk, sugar, eggs, raisins and sultanas, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Once this is done pour mixture over bread. Place remaining pieces of buttered bread on top, try to submerge these by pressing on them. Allow bread and butter pudding to stand for around 30 minutes. Cover bread and butter pudding and then place in the oven then bake for up to 30 minutes.
Take off the lid and cook for another 30 minutes until top becomes golden in color. Serves: 4

BREAD & BUTTER II
6 slices day-old bread
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square baking pan. Drizzle melted butter or margarine over bread. If desired, sprinkle with raisins. In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed.
Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered and soaking up all the egg mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.
BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING III
10 slices bread
1 1/4 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons mixed spice
1 egg, beaten
1 cup chopped dried mixed fruit
1.5 teaspoons grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
Cut the crusts from your bread, tear bread into pieces, place in a bowl and cover with milk. Let rest 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Beat melted butter, sugar, mixed spice and egg together until smooth.
Beat together with soaked bread and milk. Stir in dried fruit and orange zest. Pour into prepared dish and sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake in preheated oven 75 minutes, until set.
